Today I tackled learning an instrument and hopefully shared a lot of tips that you can use. For instance, I told you to buy a Yamaha Clavinova – the least expensive type they have. This will save you from having to pay a piano tuner for the rest of your life.
Also, I told you to buy a violin from Amazon. Don’t mess with rentals because it is just not worth it. Violins can be resold easily. Get on a forum for homeschooling parents and watch it for six months. Somebody will be selling a violin – guaranteed.
The Suzuki method is the best I have seen. Go to the Suzuki Association page for your country, go down the list of teachers in your area, and email three or four that seem like a good fit for you. If you don’t know how a good fit looks, just email a few people and see what happens. Some will have a full studio with a waiting list, others will be going on a maternity leave soon, and someone will be just eager and ready for you.
There are a lot of resources for Suzuki parents to help support the effort of the child and teacher. I talk about one such resource which contains principles of education you should take in your other subjects.
