The Labor Day weekend is going on right now and, since we live in a tourist town, we stay off the roads. We are homebodies. What can I say? Besides, the traffic in our area resembles city traffic. Forget the fact that we are considered a rural area. When one has 11 million people visiting in a year, one must expect delays and bottlenecks.
Our son took ill yesterday, so we are at least relieved he does not have to miss co-op this week, as co-op will be closed for the holiday. We nurse him back to health, while his sister picks up his chores because she is such an angel.
One message I received this weekend as guidance for the Fall Semester is FOCUS. So I am passing it along. It is September 1, friends. School is on. Time to get our focus back.
Get Your Focus Back
The first two weeks have already happened. It’s go time for real. If your children are anything like my children, they still struggle to go to bed on time, which affects the entire routine the following day. We have already run into a major disruption, so I speak from experience.
Teenagers need a lot of sleep. My children have learned the hard way they cannot stay up late, expecting me to give them a day off the next day. So I would say as long as bed time happens before 10pm, we got 90% of the mission accomplished.
The next thing is staying healthy, which is tricky this time of the year. Fall allergies kick in. More contact with other children and their germs does not help.
Last but not least, get the spring semester planned. I am already adding TeenPact and other activities and camps for spring. Come to think of it, TeenPact Registration opens today.
It’s go time. Let’s focus.
