Everywhere I turn these days, somebody mentions how summer means diving into books. Naturally, as a homeschooling mom, you will take your children to the library and sign them up for the summer reading program. I know because I will do that. I assume we match.
You might want to sign yourself up for some really cool reading, too – the kind that you never had time for through the school year. I know I will.
What kind of books sound good to you? Personally, I like nonfiction, biographies, inspirational, and the classics.
Speaking of classics, I’m at 7% through “Les Misérables” on my Kindle. I found it for free, in French, the complete saga, and could not resist. Now I must finish what I started – eek!
I wish I could read 1% every night. Obviously, I can’t. But I keep on keeping on.
I also have a stack of half-finished books which I simply must read and get them off my night stand.
They stress me out when I see them. Sometimes.
I feel so behind with everything when I look in that direction. Sometimes.
Slowly, slowly, I have begun to accept that my reality breathes unfinished products. These children of mine are an unfinished product, an ongoing project. So is everything else around me. And so am I.
Then, I would like to hop over to Brain, Child magazine. Delightful and insightful.
Last but not least, I like to leave room for the chance encounter with a new voice – either at the library, the bookstore, or in the blogosphere. I love discovering a new writer – new to me or new to the world of publishing or both.
What about you? What are your reading plans for this summer?
