Tonight, at 7pm, on Market Square (in front of the stage) in Knoxville, a remembrance for Paris will be held. Organized by the University of Tennessee French Department and the UT French Honor Society, this vigil is open to the general public interested in showing solidarity with the French people.
There will be candles, but you can bring your own candles, flowers, posters or whatever you feel would be appropriate. I have not decided yet if I would go or not. My eyes still fill up with tears throughout the day when I remember the horror of the Paris attacks on November 13.
Being in a crowd overwhelms me to the point of tears in general, even when the crowd celebrates something joyous. I am afraid I will lose it completely if they started singing La Marseillaise or just at the sight of candles and flowers. In other words, I am unfit for a public vigil.
But I thought you might want to know about this event.
